The Bridge is a sustainable micro-home project located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, featuring design elements that prioritize environmental sustainability. The project utilizes a range of techniques to reduce its environmental impact, including collecting rainwater and dew from the roof and stream below the house for use, using solar hot water panels on the roof, implementing micro hydro-electric turbines into the waterfall to provide power while avoiding disturbance to the local ecology, and pumping wastewater far away to avoid contamination. The use of insulation boards and insulation paint help to minimize energy loss, while the glass facade allows low winter sun to enter the house, heating up the concrete floor plate that releases the retained heat at night. The house is cooled by wind and water from below during the summer, with the roof blocking high summer sun. Finally, the cliffs act as thermal masses that help regulate heat flow in the house. Overall, The Bridge exemplifies a design that prioritizes sustainability and eco-friendliness, showcasing how modern living spaces can coexist in harmony with nature.
